Space Systems
Phoenix Integration's suite of software has been used by several different organizations for the design and development of space systems. Application areas include:
Reusable Launch Vehicles
Reusable Launch Vehicles (RLV's) are space vehicles designed to perform multiple missions. Because RLV's are re-used, the costs to access a low earth orbit are significantly reduced.
The Phoenix Solution
NASA's Advanced Engineering Environment group has implemented the ModelCenter framework to help bring the numerous software tools, remote locations, and different computing platforms into a cohesive environment for RLV systems design. As a result, the system allows them to analyze new concepts in a quarter of the time with the same resources. In addition, the ModelCenter solution allows the geographically distributed design team to work together simultaneously, reducing their need to travel between NASA locations.
In addition, SpaceWorks Engineering, Inc. (SEI) used the ModelCenter suite of software in conducting probabilistic design studies for a 3rd generation RLV. The photo to the right is SEI's conceptual image of a Single-Stage-To-Orbit (SSTO) Advanced Concept Rocket Engine 92 (ACRE-92) RLV.
