New Demands from the Battlefield Create Design Challenges For Engineers

Phoenix Integration Calls Special Gathering of Industry Experts To Address Unconventional Engineering

Blacksburg, VA—April 6, 2006—Phoenix Integration rises to the challenge set forth by Department of Defense efforts by helping top US government defense firms with their engineering design processes. Phoenix Integration is hosting a two-day symposium at the Hope Hotel and Conference Center in Dayton, Ohio. The symposium will bring together military officials and experts from across the aerospace industry to address the technologies being used to overcome the design challenges for unconventional vehicle and weapon system design.

"We recognize the need for new and unique ways of innovating in the labs so that our warfighters can accomplish their missions and return home safely. Phoenix's job is to make the defense industry more efficient, so we're stepping up and calling this event to brainstorm and to showcase the best practices from around the industry," said Dr. Brett Malone, President of Phoenix Integration.

The symposium will focus on the conceptualization, design process, and evaluation of unconventional vehicles and through the application of advanced Modeling & Simulation (M&S) technologies. Unconventional vehicle design requires innovative engineering processes which can be integrated and enhanced using state-of-the-art M&S environments and tools. Examples of the design process for future military and space air breathing and non-air breathing systems will be presented using hypersonic engineering as a technology. Through applying optimization and technology assessment tools as part of the process, the degree of hardware success is greatly enhanced while minimizing cost, risk, and test failures.

The two-day event will include a hands-on training course, a panel discussion, keynote address, and industry speakers from The Boeing Company, BAE Systems, US Air Force, Pratt & Whitney, Naval Surface Warfare Center, and more.
