Overview:
Phoenix Integration’s products enable the integration of many different design tools. With the advent of practical, design-oriented CFD and FEA, many high fidelity tools can be integrated into PHX ModelCenter® as well. However, the use of lower fidelity tools is still used at the front-end of the design process to achieve basic sizing and preliminary design.
In many cases, the 1- or 2-D codes that form the backbone of a company's design process need to be married to the higher fidelity tools to make their use practical. Another feature of this process is the notion that the lower-order tools are essentially pre-processors for the higher fidelity tools. As such, providing a simple, interactive experience for the user to perform this pre-processing is important.
This webinar demonstrates a system in which a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet is used to initially size a compressor and higher order tools are used to predict the performance of the machine as well as perform stress analysis. The spreadsheet can be modified within Excel itself in an interactive manner or by PHX ModelCenter in an automated manner. The spreadsheet is used for both pre-processing and post-processing to give a quick assessment of the candidate design's acceptability.
